Why Women Everywhere Are Mad At Lena Dunham

December 21, 2016
Actress Lena Dunham was trying to make a point, but accidently kept talking. Have you ever done that?

Dunham is apologizing to women who've had abortions after saying she wished she could count herself among that group. She said what now?

Lena was telling a story on her podcast about visiting a Texas abortion clinic where she was asked to discuss the circumstances of her own abortion. Motto reports the conversation went like this:

"I myself had never had an abortion, I felt it was important that people know that I was unblemished in this department, I still haven't had an abortion, but I wish I had"—a comment which did not go over well with women who've actually had the emotional procedure.

What she was trying to say was something like, don't feel ashamed, get help if you need it, but it went SOOOOO wrong.

She has since posted an apology "My words were spoken from a sort of 'delusional girl' persona I often inhabit, a girl who careens between wisdom and ignorance, I would never, ever intentionally trivialize the emotional and physical challenges of terminating a pregnancy."
