December 27, 2016
2016 has been a rough year for celebrities. After suffering a heart attack on Friday, actress Carrie Fisher passed away Tuesday morning at the age of 60.

She was best known as Princess Leia in the Star Wars movies. She had a major role in last year's "The Force Awakens," and even appeared in this month's "Rogue One," using digital footage from the original trilogy.

Family spokesman Simon Halls released a statement from Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd: "It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers."

Just last month, she revealed her surprising on-set affair with Star Wars co-star Harrison Ford, which she described as, "so intense."
