Taika Waititi to Write and Direct New 'Star Wars' Film

May 4, 2020

Filmmaker Taika Waititi, who directed "Thor: Ragnarok" and "Jojo Rabbit," is officially set to co-write and direct a new "Star Wars" film, Lucasfilm has confirmed.

"1917" writer Krysty Wilson-Cairn will pen the script for the upcoming film alongside him.

No release date has been set for the new project, but Waititi has his hands full with current projects between finishing filming "Next Goal Wins" and working on "Thor: Love and Thunder."

This isn't Waititi's first foray into the world of "Star Wars," as he directed the season one finale of Disney+'s "The Mandalorian."
